Cheapest month to fly to Tenerife from the UK
Last updated 29 October 2026 · by the HopCheap team
Tenerife has sun all year, which means demand stays high all year. But prices still rise and fall in a predictable pattern, driven mostly by UK school holidays and winter-sun demand. Here's how the year usually looks. Use the search buttons to check live fares for your dates.
✦ Search live fares: “Cheapest month to fly to Tenerife from the UK”Month by month
- January: after New Year, prices fall. Mid-to-late January is often good value for winter sun (around 20–22°C in the south).
- February: half-term weeks are expensive, and the weeks either side can be reasonable. The Santa Cruz Carnival (usually February or early March) raises hotel prices in the capital.
- March: early March is often good value. Easter weeks are pricey.
- April: Easter is peak. Post-Easter weeks are often cheaper.
- May: often one of the cheapest months. Warm (mid-20s °C) and quiet.
- June: also usually good value until schools break up. Great beach weather.
- July–August: the UK summer holidays make this a high-price period, though Tenerife is less dominated by UK demand than in winter.
- September: once schools return, prices drop, and the sea is at its warmest.
- October: half-term is expensive, and the rest of the month is moderate as winter season starts.
- November: outside half-term, often good value with warm weather.
- December: early December can be cheap. Christmas and New Year are among the most expensive weeks.
The best-value windows
- May and June (before school holidays).
- Mid-to-late September.
- Mid-to-late January, early March and late November for cheaper winter sun.
Other ways to save
- Compare UK airports: Tenerife South is served from almost every UK airport, so compare two or three (for example Cardiff vs Bristol, or Manchester vs Liverpool).
- Try 10 or 11 nights: unusual trip lengths sometimes price better than seven or 14 nights.
- Midweek departures: often cheaper.
- Package vs DIY: Tenerife packages can be excellent value, especially all-inclusive in peak weeks. See all-inclusive vs DIY.
North vs south weather
The south (Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas) is sunnier and drier. The north (Puerto de la Cruz) is greener, and often cloudier in winter, but hotel prices can be lower. If you're chasing guaranteed sun on a budget, the south is safer. In the shoulder months, the north is lovely.
Booking windows
For school-holiday weeks, booking early tends to give the best choice and price. For off-peak trips, good deals can appear closer to departure, especially packages. Flexible-date searches help a lot here (see our flexible date tips).
Weather by season
Tenerife's "eternal spring" climate means winter days in the south are often in the low 20s °C, and summer is usually high 20s °C, rarely extreme. The sea is coolest in February and March (around 18–19°C) and warmest in September and October. Mount Teide can have snow in winter, so take layers if you're going up.
Package deals vs flight-only by season
In peak winter weeks, UK tour operators fly large numbers of holidaymakers to Tenerife and often price packages more keenly than you could match by booking separately. In the shoulder months (May, June, September), flight-only fares are often low enough that DIY with an apartment wins, especially for couples. Late-availability packages can appear in quieter weeks, but they're a gamble if you need specific dates. Whichever you choose, check what transfers cost. Tenerife South is close to the main resorts, so a shared transfer or the TITSA bus is usually cheap.

What does a budget trip look like?
A practical way to find the cheapest week is to search the whole month you're considering from two or three UK airports. Note the three cheapest departure dates from each, then check accommodation for those dates only. In Tenerife, the difference between a school-holiday week and the week after can be large, so even a one-week shift can transform the total. If you're travelling as a family, compare an all-inclusive package for the same dates. In peak weeks, packages often beat DIY because operators buy seats and rooms in bulk.
Before you book: a quick checklist for Tenerife
- Compare dates: check a whole month of fares, not just one date. A few days' difference can change the price a lot (see our flexible date tips).
- Count the extras: add bags, seats and airport transfers to the fare before comparing options.
- Check entry rules: read the latest FCDO advice for your destination on GOV.UK, including passport validity.
- Sort insurance early: buy travel insurance when you book, so cancellation cover starts straight away.
- Plan data and money: sort a travel eSIM and a fee-free card before you leave (see our eSIM and money guides).
- Read the partner's terms: the booking site handles your booking and payment, so check its price, baggage and cancellation terms before you pay.
